Baldur's Gate 3 Gets 7 Wins at 41st Golden Joystick Awards

It was a big night for Larian Studios as Baldur's Gate 3 went home with a total of seven wins, including Ultimate Game of the Year, during the 41st Golden Joystick Awards. Other awards were Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Game Community, and PC Game of the Year.

Neil Newbon, who voiced Astarion in the game, meanwhile won the Best Supporting Performer. Larian also went home with the Studio of the Year award.

Baldur's Gate 3 was released in August 2023 and brings back players to the Forgotten Realms in a story of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.

The Awards

For this year, almost 5 million public votes were cast to pick the winners in 20 different categories which reflect the remarkable volume of high-scoring games released this year. Three other categories were critically chosen and were Critics' Choice, Breakthrough Award and Streamers' Choice.

  • Streamers' Choice - Valorant (critically chosen)
  • Best Gaming Hardware - PlayStation VR2 (public vote)
  • Breakthrough Award - Cocoon / Geometric Interactive (critically chosen)
  • Critics' Choice Award - Alan Wake 2 (critically chosen)
  • Best Lead Performer - Ben Starr - Clive Rosfield, Final Fantasy XVI (public vote)
  • Nintendo Game of the Year - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (public vote)
  • Xbox Game of the Year - Starfield (public vote)
  • PlayStation Game of the Year - Resident Evil 4 (public vote)
  • Most Wanted Game - Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (public vote)

The Golden Joystick Awards is powered by Intel and honors the people and products that have transformed the games industry in 2023. This event was first held in 1983 and is now considered as the world's oldest publicly voted gaming awards brand.
