With Battlefield 2042 revealed, fans are expecting more details, such as game modes and maps. Thankfully, during the recently held EA Play Live 2021 event, Ripple Effect Studios confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will feature maps from the previous games. Ripple Effect Studios, formerly known as DICE LA, was rebranded earlier this week.
Battlefield is a long-running franchise that has delivered many games for 20 years. The franchise has seen some amazing maps over these years and fans would definitely love seeing some of them returning in the latest Battlefield . However, the specifics of how these maps are going to be incorporated in the futuristic setting of Battlefield 2042 is yet to be seen.
During the live event, Christian Grass, the general manager for Ripple Effect Studios, confirmed that the studio is currently working on an yet-to-be announced game mode, which will feature remastered maps from previous Battlefield games.
But shortly after the EA Play live event, well-known Battlefield leaker Tom Henderson shared a tweet claiming that the new mode will be called Battlefield Hub, which features previous Battlefield maps including Metro, Locker, Wake Island, Siege of Shanghai, Arica Harbor, and Caspian Border. In a related video, Tom Henderson also claimed that Battlefield Hub will be the ultimate sandbox experience and it will be a fun-game mode instead of a competitive experience.
The addition of fan-favorite maps will undoubtedly spark excitement among fans looking forward to getting their hands on Battlefield 2042 . For those wondering if the upcoming Battlefield will feature a Battle Royale mode, there's no BR in Battlefield this time around.
Though the EA Play event later this month may unveil interesting details on Battlefield 2042 , possibly with that rumored new game mode.
I don't know about you, but I'm definitely excited to see what the upcoming Battlefield does differently than most modern first-person shooters.
Battlefield 2042 is releasing on October 22 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
