While Epic Games Store is known for giving away freebies every week, it's a rare occasion that the digital storefront gives away big titles. Recently, Epic started a mystery game weekly giveaway starting with NBA 2K21. It was then followed by the popular Among Us, and last week fans got a chance to claim Frostpunk . This week, however, the digital storefront has gone a mile ahead and offered Remedy's Control.
Control was a critically acclaimed title that was also nominated as the Game of the Year title for 2020 at Game Awards. Although the game did not secure the GOTY at Game Awards, it did manage to win several other awards. The game launched as an Epic Games Store exclusive and there's no denying that it is one of the biggest games that EGS has given away after Grand Theft Auto 5. So, if you're interested, Control is up for grasp until June 17 completely free of cost.
Interestingly, Control isn't the only freebie that Epic is giving away this week. EGS also highlighted Genshin Impact as a free game that players can grab, despite the game being already free. Genshin Impact launched recently on June 8 on the EGS. What players will really get is the extras from the redeem codes: the GenshinEpic, GenshinGalaxy, and GenshinGift, which offers 50 Primogems and 3 Hero's Wit.
With Control and in-game freebies for Genshin Impact, EGS's free mystery game giveaway promotion seems to be coming to an end after it has revealed the next free game that fans can look forward to.
From June 17 to June 24, players will be able to claim two games, Hell is Other Demons and Overcooked 2 for free. Once these games are available to claim, Epic will likely reveal the next batch of free games for the following week, and the next lot of mystery games may begin rolling in toward the end of the year. This, however, is a prediction and it is unclear if Epic will continue the Christmas mystery game giveaway trend this year as well. We'll have to wait and see what Epic has got in store for us.
