Grounded Opens Up the Playgrounds

It's time to create and play. Obsidian Entertainment

A new experience is arriving to Grounded with Playgrounds. This is a new mode which allows players to create, share, and play, what can be described as an endless amount of new content. Pretty much your imagination is the limit.

With Playgrounds, you get access to a wide range of tools and features that's built in the game. You can create your very own boss battle arena or even an escape room that has traps. Want to race with friends? Then come up with a racecourse and even add obstacles and power ups.

There are more than 300 world props to use in Playgrounds. Don't forget the 400+ items the include equippables, resources, and the more than 100 harvestables. There are also the creatures and even bosses. But wait, there's more! There's a bunch of gadgets and gizmos available at your disposal. This new game mode introduces tools like buttons, switches, levers, timers, lasers, and power ups, to name a few.

Those who want to take things to the next level can check out the advanced logic options which include Condition Checkers, Logic Gates, and Switch Gizmos. With this, you can set up some rather complex gameplay mechanics.

The Grassbox

While a new game mode is indeed exciting, you should be happy to know that there are two maps for you to choose from. There's the backyard that you know and love. Then there's the new Playground map which is The Grassbox.

The Grassbox is a completely empty backyard where you can build to your heart's content. There are even some areas where you can build your creations like ant hills and the above and underground science labs. There's even a flooded area where the wet terrain can be used to your advantage.

Two Modes

When creating your playground, you can choose two modes. There's Design Mode where you get to freely place and arrange assets. Play Mode meanwhile lets you experience your creation in real-time.

If you make a mistake, don't worry! That's because with the Undo/Redo feature, it's going to be easy to backtrack. In addition, there's the Free Placement and Rotate Freely options, so you're not limited by grid placements.

Time to Share

Once the Playground is done, you can then publish it for everyone to try out. Each Playground gets a unique code ID which can be shared with others.

Head on over to Grounded and enjoy Playgrounds!
