The upcoming action RPG Scarlet Nexus will not be launching on the Xbox Game Pass according to its developer. However, the game may eventually show up on the Game Pass but the launch itself isn't happening on the video game service.
"We have no plans to bring Scarlet Nexus to Xbox Game Pass at this time and are excited for its launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on June 25," stated Bandai Namco's spokesperson.
As the game approaches release, several rumors have been circulating on the internet claiming that the game would be launching on the Xbox Game Pass. Also, last week, game journalist Jeff Grubb made a statement during the XboxEra podcast claiming that Microsoft had secured the deal with Bandai Namco to bring the game to the subscription service. It now seems that this isn't the case, though
With that said, it doesn't entirely mean that Scarlet Nexus will never be launching on the Xbox Game Pass. It may happen but possibly not close to the launch. Other popular Bandai Namco games like Code Vein are already open on the Pass after being available for purchase digitally and on a disc.
For the uninitiated, Scarlet Nexus was revealed in May 2020 as a sci-fi action RPG. The game is a new IP and features a group of special soldiers called Other Suppression Force (OSF), the last beacon of humanity. These special soldiers are tasked with taking out mutants preying upon humans called the Others. From what we have seen so far, Scarlet Nexus will feature a hack-and-slash style of gameplay as well as the ability to alter the environment to the player's advantage.
An interesting aspect of the game is the companion system that allows the player to develop strong bonds with NPC allies and use their powers against enemies. The game also received a new story trailer recently that explained the game lore.
